The California-Nevada Annual Conference (Cal-Nev) Volunteers In Mission (VIM) Medical-Dental Team will be on their Philippines 2010 tour beginning this January. They will be performing mission work on the following dates :
06 Feb Marikina UMC
– Feb Hope Medical Center, Banaue, Ifugao Province
26 Feb Santiago, Isabela
The VIM team has been visiting the Philippines annually for the last 5 years to provide medical, dental and eye care to specific mission sites in partnership with local churches. This year’s team is composed of Rev. Paul and Virginia Cabotaje, Rev. Estan J. Cueto and Rev. Benoni and Marilyn Silvanetto.
While the team supplies medicines, vitamins, personal hygiene implements, food and toys for children, local church partners coordinate (local) doctors, dentists, optometrists and other volunteers required by the program. This service is open to the community, regardless of religion, as a clear manifestation of Christ’s love. Care recipients are encouraged to give thanks to God.
It should be noted that this program is financially independent from Cal-Nev. Missionaries on tour pay for their own expenses, and fund raising efforts for these missions are spearheaded by Ken and Jane Bosworth.
