Dear Leaders,
I am declaring Oct 24, 2009 as National UMYAF Outreach Relief Operations Day. This declaration mandates all UMYAF leaders of each Local, District and Annual Conference to plan, strategize and conduct any relief efforts as you are able, to victims of previous calamities.
Several options are suggested such as:
Partnering with neighboring AC’s who was/were hardly-hit by the calamities
Partnering with a chosen AC or District even in far distances.
Conducting a relief activity on October 24 or the soonest time as you are able
It is also suggested that the following will be prioritized:
Medicines especially for children
Blankets, sleeping materials, towels
Kitchen utensils/gadgets
Soaps, detergents, shampoo, toothpaste
Cash for carpentry materials
I would like to inform you that several UMYAF groups in different chapters, districts and annual conferences have started this already. Tomorrow, Mexico UMC Chapter shall turn-over goods for 100 families to PACE. On Sunday, PACE shall receive donations from Reiner Puno and also from West Middle Philippines Annual Conference. Soon, our fellow umyaf’ers from Dubai chapter shall be sending donations. Umyaf’ers from New Zealand already donated through the Red Cross. Umyafers in Greater Manila area have been volunteering with UMCOR, KKFI, NCCP,ABS-CBN Sagip-Kapamilya, UMCHQ Bishop’s Offices,etc.
